The Morgantown Area Partnership recently hired two new staff members: Jacob Coots and Matt Porter.
Coots is the new Membership and Public Affairs manager for the Partnership.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree in political science from West Virginia University in 2020, Coots continued his education and received a master’s degree in public administration, also from WVU.
As a fifth generation West Virginian, he said he is proud to have the opportunity to serve the Morgantown community.
Coots interned for Terri Cutright at Terri Reed Cutright & Associates LLC in 2021.
Porter is from Wheeling, and recently started the master’s degree program in Public Administration at West Virginia University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in pre-law and political science, but said internships in economic development led him away from practicing law.
During his undergraduate years, Porter interned at the Regional Economic Development Partnership in Wheeling and with the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce.
He was also a Frasure Singleton Intern at the West Virginia State Legislature. Since July, Porter has been a graduate assistant with the Morgantown Area Partnership.
The Partnership is a public/private alliance for the betterment of economic, business and community development in the greater Morgantown area and Monongalia County.
Under the umbrella of the Partnership are the Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce, Monongalia County Development Authority, Sunnyside Up and the Morgantown Area Economic Partnership.
Russ Rogerson is the president and CEO of the organization.
