BAKER — After its season-opener was canceled last week, Clay-Battelle now opened at Class A No. 3 East Hardy, and it was a rousing 59-12 win for the Cougars.
However, C-B head coach Ryan Wilson was happy with how his team battled against a tough team.
“We were disappointed after last week but they handled it very well,” he said. “They kept right on going and tonight, they battled. East Hardy is for real, they have it all — offense, defense, kicking game — very good ball club. But I give it to our kids, they played hard all game and I give it to them. After, I got, ‘Hey coach, we’ll be ready to get back to work on Monday.’ ”
Carson Shriver had 15 carries for 58 yards, Zach Hall had 10 carries for 70 yards and Maddox Shriver had 10 carries for 39 yards.
