Wilma Wilburn

Wilma Yvonne (Kennedy) Wilburn, 84, of Cheat Lake, passed away at Stonerise in Morgantown on Monday, Aug. 22, 2022.

She was born at home in Flemington, on April 10, 1938, the daughter of the late Howard C. Kennedy and Mary L. Dalton Kennedy. Wilma was employed at Colshire Pajama Factory until its closure and then worked in the cafeteria at WVU Hospital until her retirement.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. “Sid” Wilburn in 1993; their twin daughters, Kimberly and Kay, infants in 1960; sister, Paulette Haseleu; and one brother, Carl Jim Kennedy.
She is survived by her son, Michael Eugene Wilburn and wife Shelby Lynn Rice Wilburn, of Morgantown; two grandsons, Nicholas (Jodi) and Dustin (Courtney); two great-grandsons, Andrew and Alexander; one great-granddaughter, Emma; brothers, Elwood “Peewee” Kennedy, Warren Lee Kennedy and Roger (Erma) Kennedy; brother-in-law, Halbert Elwood (Jean) Wilburn; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Weaverling and Janet Kennedy.

Wilma is also survived by her best friend of many years, Mattie Kennedy, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Fred Jenkins Funeral Home on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, from 4-8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

Wilma will be laid to rest with her husband at the Zion Cemetery, Cheat Lake.
