Edward Woods

Edward Woods, 70, of Waynesburg Pa., was promoted to Heaven to be with his Savior on Aug. 18, 2022, at Mon Health Medical Center with his family by his side. Ed was born in Morgantown on Aug. 29, 1951, to the late Gerald and B. Louise Sollars Woods.

Ed served his country in the United States Navy. Following his service, Ed worked at many professions: he worked for a period of time for Consolidation Coal Mine, and enjoyed working at Hillbilly Towing and Truck repair with his brother, but the job he was most passionate about was spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He received his bachelor’s degree in ministry in 1986 and pastored Crossroads Community Church, Faith Baptist Church (Matheny), Grace Baptist Church (Oceana), Mount Salem Revival Grounds, where he served on the Board of Directors for many years, was a founding trustee of Victory Baptist Church in Fairmont and most recently pastored the Trinity Baptist Church for over 25 years. He also went abroad on many mission trips, most notably in Brazil and India. He had a love for missions and reaching people for Christ. In his spare time, he enjoyed cutting grass, watching Monday and Thursday night football and spending time with his family.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rose Marie Pratt Woods; daughter, Leslie Dawn Woods-Koscheck; sons, Jason Edward Woods and Pastor David Alan Woods (Keri), of Waynesburg, Pa.; grandchildren: Austin Woods (Ashley Moffitt), Alyssa Robbins (Alex), Heather Helmbright, Leigha Helmbright, Alivia Woods, Joshua Woods, Tiffany Woods and Morgan Koscheck; great-grandchildren, Graysyn Robbins and Koa Ott, and one due in February, Wrenlee Rae Robbins; sisters, Peggy Sue Burkett, of Morgantown, Donna St. Clair (Scott), of Core; brother, Harry James Woods (April Ford), of Fairmont; his mother-in-law, Luzetta Pratt Sleeth; and an aunt, Ruth Cale; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Ed was welcomed into heaven by his granddaughter, Sarah Bauer; father-in-law, Neil Pratt and step-father-in-law: Ronald Sleeth; and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Trinity Baptist Church Missions Fund, 821 East Roy Furman Highway Waynesburg, PA 15370.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Trinity Baptist Church, 821 E. Roy Furman Highway, Waynesburg, PA 15370, from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, and again from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, Aug. 25 with Evangelist Jason Woods, Pastor David Woods and Pastor Nathan Barker. Following the service, interment will take place at Montana Mines Cemetery with military honors. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
