Ronald Faber

Ronald Leroy Faber, 80, of Westover, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, at Mon Health Medical Center.

A son of Maurice Jon and Verna Lee Baker Faber, he was born March 9, 1942, in Uniontown, Pa.

After attending Morgantown High School, Mr. Faber enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp, where he served for four years and was a drummer in the Marine Corp band. He was also the drummer for several local bands during the 1960s and early 1970s, such as the Bonnevilles, the Teen Kings and the House of Bourbon.

Later, he became employed as a coal miner and worked for U.S. Steel, Consol Energy, Murray Corp. and Laurita Mining. Ron enjoyed his retirement and remained a member of the UMWA. He was also a member of the American Legion in Mount Morris, Pa.

Ron was baptized into the Methodist Church on Jan. 20, 2019, by the Rev. Karen Tate from Westover United Methodist Church.

Ron is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lana Jakeway Faber, who lovingly cared for him during his six year battle with cancer. He also leaves his son, Ronald L. Faber, of Uniontown, Pa.; his stepchildren, Tyler Boone, of Morgantown, and Paul Boone, of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; cousins, Pete and Diane Faber, of Fairmont; and the Wandel family in Morgantown.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Harris and his nurse Paula in the intensive care unit and Mon Health Medical Center for their wonderful care and compassion during his illness, as well as the emergency room doctors, nurses, hospital staff, his physician, Dr. William Mitchell, the doctors and staff at Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center and Dr. Joanna Kalodney for her care of Ron.

At his request, there is no funeral home visitation. At his request, a private service and interment will take place at the East Oak Grove Grove cemetery in the coming days for his immediate family under the guidance of Smith Funeral & Cremation Care of Westover/Morgantown.
