Phyllis Johnson-Shaffer

Phyllis A. Johnson-Shaffer, 79, of Masontown, went home to heaven to be with the Lord on Friday, July 22, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Masontown, on March 4, 1943, a daughter of the late Walter Benjamin and Lula (Jackson) May. She lived in Masontown. She was and always will be the monarch — the glue — of her family.
Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Hillside Calvary Church. Phyllis was a Christian since she was 10 years old. She was God’s angel on earth borrowed for a time. She always thought of others’ needs before her own. Her death will be a great loss to those she left behind.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 13 years, Burton Alan Shaffer; two daughters, Tiny Ann Davis and husband Jeff and Tammy Boring and husband Patrick, all of Masontown; four sons, Everett Johnson, Lloyd Johnson and wife Rhonda, of Masontown, Michael Johnson and Beth, of Flemington, and Kelly and husband Eric, of Florida; four sisters, Janet Shaffer and husband Wayne “Butch,” of Masontown, Susan Greaser and husband Greg, of Kingwood, Judy Johnson, of Masontown, and Joyce Cottrell, of Masontown; two brothers, Clifford May, of Morgantown, Junior May and wife Mary, of Florida; 40 grandchildren, Holly, JD and wife Jessica, April and companion Wes, Joey and Cat, Tamara, Keish and companion Zach, Harley, Tabitha and companion Devynn, Eric, Samantha and fiance Victor, Tiffany and fiance Jerry, Mike Jr., Stephanie and husband Jordon, Cody and Jaden, Patrick and companion Missy, Jonathan and wife Michele, Christopher, Chad, Britney, L.J,, Miranda, Dakota and wife Joanna, Heather, Ashley and husband Corey, Britney and Kristen; and 25 great-grandchildren, Autum, LeRoy, Cade, Keirsten, Dylan, Mathieu, Summer, Kasey, Skylee, Hriblan, Melodee, Douglas III, Lola, Brandon, Shayleigh, Landon, Angelo, Feenyx, Alissa, Julianna, Danny, Kylie, Olivia, Emma, Margaret and Logan.

In addition to her parents Phyllis is preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Johnson; one son, Leonard “Lenny” Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Aubree Boring; three brothers, David May, Robert May and Roger May; and two sisters, Fannie Kleps and Betty Shaffer.

Friends were called at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, where Pastor Jim Weber and Pastor John Wagner officiated. Interment as held in Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
