Daniel Raymond Thomas Sr., 59, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 1, 2022.
Born Jan. 9, 1963, in Morgantown, Daniel was son of the late John and Patricia Maxwell Thomas.
Daniel is survived by his son, Daniel R. Thomas II and his fiancé Kari McCrobie, of Masontown; a brother, John L. Thomas, of Morgantown; a sister, Roberta and husband David Jones of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Thomas.
Mr. Thomas loved cooking and worked much of his life as a chef, with more than 20 years of service at the Mountainlair at West Virginia University and at the former Ramada Inn before its closing. He enjoyed being with his family, watching football and living life to the fullest.
Friends may join the family to honor Daniel’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from 4-7 p.m., when a service of remembrance will be held, on Tuesday, July 26.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made directly to the funeral home to assist with Mr. Thomas’s final arrangements.
