
Betty Jane Bissett Tanton, 79, of Morgantown, passed away Monday May 23, in Virginia Beach, Va.
Jane was born in Preston County on Aug. 1, 1942, a daughter of the late James and Virginia Jackson.
She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family was so important to her, and she loved them dearly. She worked for 32 years at Mylan Pharmaceuticals before she retired.
Jane enjoyed spending time outside swinging on her porch with her dogs, reading and doing word puzzles. She loved crocheting and sewing blankets for her grand and great-grandchildren. In her earlier years, she spent most summers camping at Big Bear Lake with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffery (Toni) Bissett, Jerry Bissett and David Bissett; her daughters, Tammy (Matthew) Pforr and Cathy (Kenneth) Mulkey; her sister, Sharon Thorn; and many sister- and brother-in-laws.
She is also survived and missed tremendously by her grandchildren, Chelsea (Bill Jones) Pforr, Cortney Pforr, Chylee (Erik) Duritza, David Grose, James “Max” Grose, Benjamin Bissett, Sarah (Ryan) Brown, Taylor (Kyle Ayers) Mulkey, Tanner Mulkey, Heather Merico and Brooke Bissett.
Jane was also blessed to have 11 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her late husbands, David Bissett and John Tanton; brothers, James and Benjamin Jackson; her daughter, Laurie Ann Grose; and grandson, John “J.D.” Grose.
