Frederick Stansberry

Frederick Lee Stansberry, 86, of Smyrna, Tenn., passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at home. He was born in Smithtown, on December 10, 1935, the son of the late Paul and Olive (Elliot) Stansberry.

Frederick lived in Smithtown, from 1935-1955, Philadelphia from 1955-1960, Oak Valley, N.J. from 1960-1978, Dayton, Tenn. from 1978-2017, and Smyrna, Tenn. since 2017. He attended Morgantown High School, Philadelphia College of the Bible, Covenant College and Oxford Graduate School. Fred worked for Evangelical Ministries in Philadelphia, (The Bible Study Hour and Eternity Magazine), Bryan College, Dayton, Tenn. and World Vision. He was most recently a member of Giles Creek Baptist Church in Smyrna, Tenn., and a former member of Grace Bible Church of Dayton, Tenn. and Southwood Baptist Church of West Deptford, N.J.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Deloris Jane (Sumpter) Stansberry; his children, Sharon (Sherwood) Hoyt, of Pottstown, Pa., Kenneth Stansberry, of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Carol (Kim) Margerum, of Smyrna, Tenn.; his sister, Joan Foy of Morgantown; his four grandchildren, Dylan (Angel) Stansberry, Esther (Nate) Herzog, Jonathan Hoyt and Aaron Margerum; and his five great-grandchildren, Solomon, Sage, Tashi, Caeri and Sayj.

Funeral services will be held at Giles Creek Baptist Church in Smyrna, Tenn., at 7 p.m. CST on Thursday, July 14, with the Rev. Terry Campbell officiating. Fred will lie in state one hour before the funeral service at the church. He will be laid to rest in Pisgah Church Cemetery in Morgantown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Fred Stansberry to Giles Creek Baptist Church, 7084 Rocky Fork Road, Smyrna, TN 37167.

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tenn.
