David Glass

David Harold Glass, 87, of Fellowsville, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Preston Memorial Hospital, with family by his side. He was born on Aug. 31, 1934, in Pruntytown, son of the late Simon Oliver and Sadie Florida Phillips Glass.

Dave graduated from Fellowsville High School, Class of 1952. He was retired from the Preston County Board of Education as a bus driver after 26 years. He also owned and operated Dave’s Service Center in Fellowsville and was co-owner of Dutch’s Service for many years. Dave enjoyed woodworking and making trips to Florida. Throughout his life, he was a hard worker, and he could build anything. He often would lend a hand to family and friends. He had a heart of gold and was loved by many. When you saw Dave, his wife, Thelma, was beside him or not far behind him getting the job done.

Dave is survived by his wife of 41 years, Thelma Marie Knotts Glass; six children, David “Mike” Glass, of Westminster, Md., Anna M. Jetton, of Georgia, Blosum M. Cline and Sam, of Fellowsville, Danny B. Ridenour and Patty, of Fellowsville, Pennie L. Murray and John, of Fellowsville, and Joey M. Ridenour and Nickcole, of Elkins; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that he dearly loved; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; his neighbors at home; and his many neighbors and friends in Florida.

In addition to his parents, Dave is preceded in death by one son, Danny L. Glass; one daughter, Shonna D. Ely; one grandson, Anthony; five sisters; Geraldine Julian, Virginia “Ginger” Phillips, Rosalee Lohr and Louise and Lucille Glass at infancy; two brothers, Joseph H. Glass and Oliver R. Glass; and his in-laws, Howard and Dona Knotts.

Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave., Newburg, from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, and from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon on Thursday, June 16, with Pastor Joey Ridenour and Pastor Sam Cline officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Israel Cemetery. A special thank you goes out to Amedisys Hospice in Morgantown for all the love and care. Bolyard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Glass family.
