Armeda Wilson

Armeda (Caputo) Wilson, 93, of Kingwood passed away on June 1, 2022, with loving family by her side.
She was born on Jan. 5, 1929, in Monessen, Pa., the ninth child of 12 to the late Rose Munhin (Rosa Mancino) and Joseph (Giuseppe) Caputo.

Armeda was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a long-time member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.

Armeda attended Rivesville High School and Euclid Academy of Cosmetology in Cleveland. After marrying Bud, she became a Navy wife for a brief time. The couple moved to Kingwood in 1952 and started a family. Armeda joined the Wesley United Methodist Church in 1955. She was a member of the Chancel Choir as well as the Preston County Community Choir and served on various boards and committees, giving many hours as a volunteer. She was a member of the Martha Circle, Bereavement Committee and Alter Guild. She also tutored for Literacy Volunteers, and she contributed to the Buckwheat Festival as a ticket seller at the Community Building and Information Building during the festival until 2012.

She worked for a time as a licensed beautician and operated her own shop in Kingwood in the 1960s. Later employed by the Preston County Board of Education as a reading tutor, she retired after 20 years of helping children learn to read in various county elementary schools. Her favorite role by far through, was being “Grandma” to her grandson and great-grandchildren. After retiring, she became a member of the Late Bloomers, the Kingwood chapter of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed participating in hosting events. Spending time with her grandson and vacationing at the Outer Banks, N.C., were some of her post-retirement joys. Throughout their long marriage, Armeda and Bud loved dancing together and did so often.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra K. Dodge (L. Kevin), of Kingwood; a grandson, Kevin Dodge (Cate), of Lansdale, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Logan Kevin, Carissa Rose and Cassidy Reese Dodge; and three siblings, Clara Hendricks, of Rivesville, Joanne (Paul) Jezioro, of Nashville, and Joseph (Linda) Caputo Jr., of Rivesville.

She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Charles B. “Bud” Wilson Jr. in May 2021; her siblings, John Caputo, Isabella Girard, Salvatore (Sam) Caputo, Frank (Fritz) Caputo, Patsy Caputo, Anthony (Tut) Caputo, Mary Caputo and Ann Rote; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Friends will be received at the Kingwood Funeral Home on 295 S Price St. Kingwood, from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, and at the Wesley United Methodist Church at 107 High St., from noon-1 p.m., the funeral hour, on Monday, June 6, with the Rev. Jonathan Nettles officiating. Entombment will be in the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown.
