Trail Mix Festival celebrates National Trails Day

Hazel Ruby McQuain Park in Morgantown will play host to the Trail Mix Festival Saturday.

Celebrating National Trails Day, this event will feature the Up ‘n’ Down Deckers Creek Trail Half Marathon.

Starting and ending at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park in Morgantown, this is a fun but challenging race with a 500-foot elevation change going up the creek and back down again.

Organizers anticipate 200 runners joining in this year. They know of runners coming from nine states and Washington, D.C.

Tom Batchelor and Robbie DeSutter will give a free concert from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the amphitheater.

The award ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the amphitheater.

Hosted by the Mon River Trails Conservancy, all are invited to enjoy the rail-trails on National Trails Day — a celebration of the country’s 200,000-plus miles of trails and the local 48 miles of rail-trail.
