The impact of Dr. Frank E. Tulak’s life will far surpass his death. Dr. Tulak passed away peacefully on June 1, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Frank Edward Tulak was born on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1947, in New Eagle, Pa. He grew to be a loving and devoted husband, son, nephew, brother, brother-in law, uncle, great-uncle, pastor, doctor and friend.
He adored his wife, Janice, whom he married the day after Christmas in 1970, while also serving as a pastor and ordained elder in the United Methodist Church.
Frank was a studious man who pursued his passions and understood the value of a quality education. He received his bachelor’s in psychology from Asbury College, before earning a Master’s of Divinity from the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. He continued on to a master’s in psychology at Loyola University, before earning his doctorate in psychology from Immaculata University.
He most recently served as a specialist in neuropsychology at UPMC’s Susquehanna Health Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. As a pastor and doctor, Frank cared deeply for all people, especially his parishioners and patients.
When not dedicating himself to others, Frank valued spending time with his wife, Janice, and visiting with his other family members. He enjoyed golfing with his brother-in-law, John, playing football with the family and attempting to teach his nieces and nephews how to ski. He also had a passion for cooking and enjoyed testing new recipes for his family to try (his “hen house volcanoes” were a fan favorite).
Dr. Tulak was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Stephen and Betty Jane Tulak, nee Farrow. He is survived by his wife Janice Tulak, nee Beach; brothers, Gary Stuart Tulak, Robey Thomas Tulak, Ronald Arthur Tulak; sister, Kathryn Lynn Hockenberry, nee Tulak; and several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
The visitations and funeral to honor Frank will be held at the Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, Pa. Visitations will be held from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, and from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, June 6. The funeral service will be at the funeral home at noon on Tuesday, June 7. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, Pa.
Two hotels in Belle Vernon, Pa. are offering special rates for out-of-town family and friends who wish to attend: Holiday Inn Express (724-930-0100) and Hampton Inn (724-929-8100).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society towards CNS Lymphoma charities.
