Phyllis Coombs

Phyllis Mae Coombs, 81, passed away on Jan. 11, 2022. She was born July 6, 1940, in Morgantown. She was a member of Fairview Methodist Church and loved her church family.

Phyllis was a gentle woman, always kind and thoughtful to everyone she met. She always had a smile on her face. We were truly blessed to have had her in our lives.

She loved to travel and was able to visit so many places around the globe. She traveled to Europe, Canada, went on several cruises, traveled with her daughter and family on several bowl trips and spent precious time in Florida with her sister, Helen. She was happiest when spending time with her family on many beach trips.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip, and two sisters, Evelyn Kinsley and Helen DeVault. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and James Cavender, and her grandchildren, Ryan and Whitney Cavender, who were the light of her life. As she gave in life, she also gave in death and donated her body to WVU Medicine’s Human Gift Registry to help others. Special thanks to her kind neighbor, Cathie Boone, who she loved dearly, and a wonderful friend, Jean Carmody.

A celebration of her life will be held at Fairview Church on the Grafton Road, at 2 p.m. on June 5.
