Maxine Hagedorn “Aunt Mac” Burns, 81, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Stonerise of Morgantown.
Born Sept. 2, 1940 in Morgantown, Maxine was the daughter of the late Delmar and Martha Snyder Hagedorn.
Survivors include her two children, Dwayne Mattern and Jackie Lynn Mattern, both of Morgantown; three grandchildren, Blake Mattern and his wife Anna, Preston Mattern and his wife Bethany and Jeff Mattern and his wife Tieairra, all of Morgantown; three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Gabriel and Emma Mattern; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Cecil “Buck” Hagedorn, Sam Hagedorn, Jackie Hagedorn, Amanda Butt, Frank Hagedorn and Marshall Hagedorn.
Aunt Mac dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them as much as possible. You could almost guarantee that when you left her house, you left with something to eat. She was an avid fan of Westerns, enjoyed rooting for her local sports teams and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins and Steelers.
A gathering of family and friends to honor Maxine’s life and legacy will be held at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Morgantown, from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4.
