Cary Kenneth Johnson, 69, of Morgantown, died Monday, April 25, 2022, at 4:29 a.m., at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 12, 1952, in Mahoning County, Ohio.
He was the son of Robert Frazier Johnson and Carrie May (Johnson) Wallace.
He attended Washington and Lee University and was a graduate of West Virginia University, where he was employed in the anatomy lab until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and his grandmother, Pinkie M. Johnson, and brother, Frazier Andre “Sparkie” Johnson. He is survived by cousins in Charleston, Ohio and Hawaii.
He was also preceded in death by his life partner, Michael D. Goff. He was the godfather of Michael’s niece, Kasey M. Yost. He remained close and was family to Michael’s sister, Linda Goff Yost, her husband, Mark A Yost and an “uncle” to their daughter, (his godchild) Kasey M. Yost, of Morgantown.
A lifelong Episcopalian, He was an active member of St. Thomas à Becket Episcopal Church, a former board member of Caritas House of Morgantown, and most recently, a volunteer collecting food for Community Kitchen of Morgantown.
He was deeply loved cherished by all who knew him.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at St. Thomas à Becket Episcopal Church, at 11 a.m. on June 4, 2022, with a reception at the church to follow. His ashes will be interred, along with Michael’s, in the columbarium of St. Thomas à Becket.
