
Mary “Margaret” Headlee, 82, of Morgantown passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022, peacefully with her family by her side on Mother’s Day, which is fitting as she spent the majority of her adult life as a mom to four, Cheryl Lynn, Carol Sue, Mary Christine and John David.
Mary Margaret Bracken was born Nov. 16, 1939, in Morgantown, to parents Eva Pauline and Oliver Scott Bracken. Margaret grew up in Morgantown and graduated from Morgantown High School in 1957. In 1960, she was united in marriage to Linden “Lin” Ralph Headlee. Morgantown is where they lived, worked and raised their children. They later divorced.
Margaret was an avid amateur golfer who competed in numerous tournaments, winning several. She started her career at Fredlock’s Pharmacy, became a master seamstress and started as an entrepreneur and mastered wallpapering, doing 100s of satisfied commercial and residential jobs and always had a legal pad with pages of people “wait listed” for her services.
She took a love of auctions and antiquing as a hobby to then taking over The Antiques Walk for many years and then started doing Tag Sales to provide a valued service for estates and people moving or downsizing their homes.
Margaret is survived by her four children; seven grandchildren, Kat, Ryan, Chris, Sam, Nick, Joe and Maggie; her three great-grandchildren, Bob, Will and Maisy; three siblings, Jean, David and Margaret Ruth; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and many friends. Margaret was preceded in death by both parents; her sisters, Ginger, Karen, Florence and Delores; and her brothers, Howard and Bobby.
