KINGWOOD — The Preston County magistrate race started fairly close and ended with only 318 votes between the top two vote-getters.
The unexpired term of magistrate Rhonda Sypolt, who died last year, will be filled by Cindy McCrobie, who received 2,402 votes.
Preston County Circuit Court Judge Steve Shaffer appointed Eugene Jenkins until the Primary Election, but Jenkins chose not to run. Of the other two candidates, Scott M. Funk received 2,120 votes, and Aaron Knotts, 373. There was a write-in total of nine votes.
In the race for county clerk, incumbent Republican Linda Huggins will remain in office with 2,709 votes. Her opponent, Lynette Scott Shahan, received 1,744 votes. There were no Democratic candidates.
Republican Lisa Lishman was unopposed for circuit clerk. She received a total of 3,776 votes.
