Zachary Shrout

Zachary Alan Shrout, 35, of Terra Alta, passed away, Sunday, May 1, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Kingwood, on Nov. 15, 1986, the son of Ernest L. Blosser, of Bretz, and Cindy Elizabeth Shrout, of Bruceton Mills, and stepfather, Joseph McDonald, of Maryland.

Zachary was very loved by all. He had a huge heart and was always willing to help others. Zachary fell in love with music at a very young age and self-taught himself to play the guitar, drums, organ and piano. Zachary had a special talent; he could pick up any instrument and immediately master it. He was an active member in band, playing the trumpet and baritone. One of his thoughts at that age was to be a band instructor like his cousin, Debbie Westbrook. Zachary realized later in life that he enjoyed writing and singing music. His dream was to produce music.

He was skilled in construction, worked at Shop ‘N Save and then worked for the town of Terra Alta in the recycling division. He had visions of making Terra Alta a better community. Zachary really enjoyed the wind in his face as he rode his motorcycle and the family quads. The thing that meant the most to Zachary was his daughters, Abigail and Winnifred Shrout. They were the light of his world.

In addition to his parents and beloved daughters, Zachary is survived by his partner, Erin Mae Kirk; stepbrothers and sisters, Eric Sines, Luke Titchnell, Justin Blosser, Brandon Massey, Candia Cagle, Amber Blosser and Christopher McKade; his aunts and uncles, Debbie A. Hughes, of Parkersburg, Shayne and Tommy Murray, of Kingwood, Allen Ray Goff, of Piney Fork, Ohio, Harry and Rita Shrout, of Bretz, Dale Shrout, of Masontown, Danny and Karen Shrout, of Arthurdale, David and Debbie Shrout, of Morgantown, and Roger and Linda Shrout, of Kingwood; grandmother, Linda McDonald; uncles, John and Kerry McDonald, Jerry and Rachel McDonald and Jamie McDonald; several cousins and extended second cousins; and his extended family, Nick Chickerell, Janet Thomas, Charlie Romanowski, Tracy Haugher, Joseph Graham, “Cowboy,” Helen Reid and many others.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Ruby Louise Lewis and Marie Blosser; grandfathers, Harry E. “Mickey” Lewis, Harry D. Shrout, James Blosser and Gary McDonald “Pops”; and an aunt, Lisa McDonald.

Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. A memorial service will begin at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating.
