Georgia Oleksa

Georgia Anna Baker Oleksa, 96, of Dellslow, died April 30, 2022, at Mon Health Medical Center. She was born Nov. 30, 1925, in LeRoy, Kan., the daughter of the late Roy H. and Margaret Ann Roller Baker.
She was a member of the Brookhaven United Methodist Church and a member of the choir for many years.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, known to many as “Granny Bake” or “Bake.” She created many beautiful needlepoint pictures during her lifetime and was an excellent cook and baker, making many dishes her family loved.

Georgia married Andrew “Jack” Oleksa in Topeka, Kan. on Nov. 8, 1945. Soon after, they moved to Morgantown and would live there the rest of their lives.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis Brock and Jocelyn Oleksa, Larry Stephen and Cathy Oleksa and Gary Roy and Pamela Oleksa, all of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Cory (Erin), Tyler (Savannah), Casey (Brianne) and Kenley; and five great-grandchildren, Carson, Claire, Harlan, Reagan and Sydney. She is also survived by her dog and loving companion, Angel, and also by what she would refer to as her right arm, John Sinclair, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank her many loving caregivers, including Martha, Brenda and Ashley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew “Jack” Oleksa; and one sister, Devota Baker Whiteley and her husband, Charles.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St. Morgantown, from
4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 5. Visitation will continue at Brookhaven United Methodist Church, 219 Brookhaven Road, Morgantown (physical address), from 10 a.m. until the time funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, with the Rev. Wanda Brosky officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
