Lovie Maier

Lovie Lee Maier, 93, of Tunnelton, died on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Preston Memorial Hospital with her daughters by her side.

Lovie was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Tunnelton, a daughter of the late Corbit Powell and Ethel Stella (Stewart) Wiles.

She was a 1946 graduate of Tunnelton High School. Lovie worked for the Preston County Board of Education as a cook. She loved gardening flowers, jig saw puzzles, crocheting, quilting, her pets and, most of all, time with her family.

She is survived by two daughters and spouses, Bonnie and Michael Woods, of Morgantown, Lisa and Donald “Duck” Casteel, of Tunnelton; one sister, Adelaide Maier, of Monaca, Pa.; one grandchild and spouse, Barbara and David George, of Knoxville, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 23 years, Paul Glen “Pete” Maier; one daughter, Brenda Lee “Bim” Maier; one brother, Lantz Wiles; two sisters, Irene Kimbrough and Mabel Shannon; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

Friends may call at the Kingwood Funeral Home and Crematory, formerly Rotruck-Lobb Funeral Home, 295 South Price St., from 3-8 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2022, and on from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3. Interment will follow at the Mt. View Cemetery in Tunnelton.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in Lovie’s memory to the Mt. View Cemetery Association, c/o Roger Shannon, 147 Bowmar Road, Tunnelton, WV 26444.
