
Debra McCardle, 63, of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born on Oct. 21, 1958, in Morgantown, daughter of the late JoAnn (Vankirk) Squires, Richard Squires and Robert Jerry Church.
For over two decades, she worked in nuclear medicine starting out at Eastern Isotopes/IBA Molecular, retiring from US Pack as driver dispatcher/coordinator.
Lately, she earned the nickname “The Warden,” where even total strangers knew her by that name. The Warden loved riding Harleys and went to Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. She recently took up quilting with her sisters. She loved pinching everyone’s behind. Her beloved dog, Lexi, went everywhere with her. She has left a legacy for the family to carry on with her generous and kind heart and her desire to help anyone and everyone with whom she came into contact with.
She is survived by children, Jeremy “Chop” Christoff (Emily), Jo “Jozy” Blake, Donna Varner and Mickey McCardle (Billie Jo); grandchildren: Brandon, Hunter (Brandy) and Nicholas Christoff, Preston McCardle, A.J. and Logan Varner, Jaeleigh Pratt, Olivia and Madelyn McCardle; siblings: Cindy (Nathan) Pratt, Bonnie (Jim) Southern, Gary Church, Duane Church, Connie Davis, Diane Church and Rob Church; nieces and nephews: Michelle Clayton, Jennifer Pratt, Melissa (Joshua) Leasor and Crystal (Kurt) Criss; great-nieces and nephews: Felicia (Buddy) Loughry, Madeline and Emilia Leasor, Katelyn Criss and Wyatt Clayton; great-great-nephew, Cameron Tennant; ex-husband, Douglas DeVall; and her beloved canine companion, Lexi Lee.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert McCardle.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from
9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, with Pastor Jeremiah Bostic officiating. In accordance with her wishes, cremation services will follow.
