James Barna

James Mitchell Barna Jr., 77, of Kingwood, died on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at his home.

James was born Feb. 6, 1945, in Clarksburg, a son of the late James Mitchell and Helen E. Barna Sr.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving two years in active duty on the U.S.S. Independence CVA62. After graduating high school, James attended business college for four years, earning a Baccelor of Science degree in accounting. He had worked as an auto mechanic at the Chrysler dealership in Clarksburg and as an auto parts dealer and office manager in Clarksburg. He graduated trucking school and was a truck driver for Shaffer Trucking in Reedsville. He had worked at Goodwill in Morgantown, as a laborer in finishing at Matthew Bronze and at Walmart in Kingwood in the Garden Department.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dottie Barna; one stepson, Willard “Bubby” Savage Jr. and companion, Christy Wilson, of Albright; and one stepdaughter and spouse, Tammy and Frank Cosner, of Albright.

Friends may call at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price Street, from noon to the time of the funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, with Chaplain Wendy Brown officiating and where military honors will be accorded by the Preston County and U.S. Navy Honor Guards. A private interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
