Wilma Jackson

Wilma L. (Haught) Jackson, 72, of Little Indian Creek Road, Core, passed away peacefully Monday, March 28, 2022, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Fairmont on May 28, 1949, the daughter of the late Earl “Junior” and Effie L. (Phillips) Haught.

A 1966 graduate of Farmington High School, Wilma was first employed by the Fairmont Clinic. She was later employed by the UMWA District 31 office in Fairmont. She worked in the WVU Neurology Department, WV Initiative for Innate Health and retired from WV STEPS in 2019.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed reading, gardening, baking and, most of all, spending time with her family and her dog, Jared. She dearly loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Thomas Jackson; one daughter, Lori Dean and husband Matthew; her treasured grandsons, Tyler Dean and wife Hilary and Zachary Dean and wife Ciera; and great-grandchildren, Sawyer Dean, Harper Dean, Lane Dean and Nash Dean. Also surviving are sisters, Diana Smith and husband Chuck, Debbie Smith and husband Denny and Cheryl Toothman and husband Jim; brother J.R. Haught, all of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews, as well as best friends since childhood, Donna Amos and Linda Bissett.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Haught, and parents-in-law, Joseph and Dorothy Jackson.

Friends may gather at McCulla Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 31. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service on Friday with the Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services following the service.
