Mary White

“When I find myself in times of trouble Mother Mary comes to me
speaking words of wisdom,” Let it be.”

Mary Gladys White, 81, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at her residence.

Born Aug. 24, 1940, in Morgantown, Mary was a daughter of the late Samuel Roy McCuskey Sr. and the late Arah Gladys Cunningham McCuskey.

Mary is survived by her three children, Rick White and his wife Frances, Cheryl Almasy and her husband Bill and Carol White; two grandchildren, Darrell and Chris White; her siblings, Georgeann D. Nine, Jessie Friend and Bill McCuskey; her fiancé, Dr. Jerome Johnson and his family; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel Roy McCuskey Jr.

Mary had a heart of gold, and was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone. She was very kindhearted and one of the most nurturing people you could meet. Mary was proud to have dedicated her life to her family and friends.

She was an avid gardener and an excellent seamstress. A little known fact about Mary is that she loved being in the outdoors, sleeping under the stars and campfires. At the age of 60, along with her family, she hiked the Grand Canyon with no trouble at all. Mary also enjoyed traveling with her family to places like St. Thomas, Colo., California, North Carolina, Florida, Texas, Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Ocean City, Md.
She spent most of her nursing career working for Drs. Greco, Stevens and Kerr in their OB/Gyn office. Because of her genuine love for animals, she was a volunteer at Retails By M-Snap for many years.

She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of the Westover United Methodist Church. Her favorite hymns were “In the Garden,” “Precious Lord,” “Take My Hand” and “Because He Lives.”

At her request, Mary has been cremated and no services are scheduled at this time. In her memory, please consider making a contribution to either the Westover United Methodist Church, 28 North St., Westover, WV 26501, Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church, 234 Carmichaels Road, Carmichaels, PA 15320 or Retails by M-SNAP, 9540 Mall Road, Morgantown, WV 26501.
