A $100,000 grant from the Antero Foundation will support top-notch care for expectant mothers and sick children at the new WVU Medicine Children’s hospital.
Representatives from the Antero Foundation visited the new hospital Friday for a check presentation and tour. The new nine-story, 150-bed facility is under construction next to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, on WVU Medicine’s main campus in Morgantown.
“We are so grateful to receive this generous grant from the Antero Foundation to help us fulfill our mission to build healthier futures for West Virginia’s children,” Amy L. Bush, WVU Medicine Children’s chief operating officer, said. “This contribution will support state-of-the-art facilities that ensure every family can get the critical care their child needs close to home.”
WVU Medicine Children’s provides the greatest range of pediatric specialty and high-risk maternal care in West Virginia and the surrounding region. The Antero Foundation grant will support expectant mothers seeking care in the spa-like Birthing Center, sick babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and children being treated for injury or illness in the Pediatric Acute Care Unit.
A daily living and rehab room in the Pediatric Acute Care Unit and two nurses’ stations — one in the NICU and one in the Birthing Center — will be named in recognition of the Antero Foundation’s generosity.

“As the private foundation for West Virginia’s leading natural gas producer, we believe that our support for WVU Medicine Children’s facility aligns perfectly with our work to make meaningful and lasting contributions in support of the communities where we are privileged to work and live.”
The Antero Foundation was established to cultivate the history of charitable giving by Antero Resources Corp. and Antero Midstream Corp., engaged in the oil and natural gas industry. The Antero Foundation focuses on expanding community involvement and cultivating new charitable partnerships, while ensuring future giving aligns with Antero’s core values of protecting people, communities and the environment.
The grant was awarded through the WVU Foundation, the nonprofit organization that receives and administers private donations on behalf of the university.
