Mon Valley Habitat for Humanity’s annual Raise the Roof event will be a little different than past events, Executive Director Michael Richard said.
The group will be hosting a ticketed event from 6-9 p.m. March 5 at the newly renovated Hotel Morgan in downtown Morgantown.
Richard said the event will be unique this year since tickets will be pre-purchased, giving them the opportunity to offer heavy hors d’oeuvres and a drink ticket for each guest. The evening will also feature live music by the Jenny Wilson Trio.
“We are going to have games, we’re going to have auction items — a silent auction and a live auction,” said Richard. “And you can learn about what we do locally as a Habitat affiliate.”
At the event, Richard said attendees will learn about some of the impact the organization has made with local families, about ways the community can help and about the organization’s upcoming project in Kingwood, which will be its first build in Preston County.
According to Richard, both tickets and sponsorships for the event are still available for those interested in attending.
Tickets for the event are $70 and must be purchased in advance on the Mon Valley Habitat for Humanity website: monvalleyhfh.org by clicking on the event tab and selecting Raise the Roof. If you are unable to attend, but would still like to donate, Richard said you can do so by visiting the website and clicking Donate.
“We are always looking for volunteers at both our Restore and our affiliate office as well,” said Richard. “So, if you are unable to donate financially you can donate by volunteering or by being an advocate for us in the community.”
Proceeds from the event will support Mon Valley Habitat for Humanity’s mission of helping to provide safe and affordable housing in Marion, Monongalia and Preston counties.
“Come out and enjoy an evening of fun and support of affordable housing in our community,” said Richard.
