A. Shawn George, 50, of Kingwood, died on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at his home.
He was born Oct. 31, 1971, in Kingwood, a son of Sandy (Sams) George of Kingwood and the late Arthur “Art” George Jr.
Shawn was a graduate of Central Preston High School in 1990, then attended West Virginia University. Shawn was bigger than life and, because of his infectious personality, it was fitting he was born on Halloween
He worked in the mines in Alabama until they closed, then moved to South Carolina to start a real estate career. After getting his real estate licenses, he worked for Ginn Real Estate Company in Palm Coast, Fla. as a sales associate, then he became the director of operations and development. In 2009 he was offered the opportunity to work for Ocean Ridge Isle Plantation in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C. as their sales manager. Shawn decided, in 2010, to come back to West Virginia and start working for Consol Energy, which was based in Enlow Fork, Pa.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his fiancée Natalie Stafford, of Morgantown; one daughter, Catelyn Ruth George, of Morgantown; one son, Hayden James George, of Morgantown; one sister, Kimberly L. George and fiance Todd A. Whetsell, of Kingwood; two nieces, McKenna Ruth Warnick and Madeline Sophia Warnick; two aunts, Sharon Ann George-Tatich, of Wheeling, and Linda and E. Louis Murphy, of Princeton; great-aunt, Elizabeth George, of Morgantown; cousins, Andrew “Drew” and Ashley Tatich, of Morgantown, and Allison Jane Wright-George, of Morgantown; and his dog, Axel George.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Arthur and Betty Jean “Maxine” George; his maternal grandparents, James M. and Ruth G. Sams; and three uncles, Willis Hugh George, Jimmy Joe George and Andrew Joseph Tatich DDSMS.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price St., in Kingwood, from noon until the time of the memorial service in the funeral home chapel at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022, with the Rev. Kevin B. Cain officiating. Cremation services are under the direction of Rotruck-Lobb Crematory.
