Delbert Marshall Barnett Jr., 72, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 9, 1949, in Morgantown, a son of Delbert Marshall Barnett Sr. and Della May Claypole Barnett.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald Barnett.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cindy Smith and Theresa Golden; a son, Tim Barnett; two sisters, Carol Kirk and Delores Hovatter; a brother, James Barnett; and his eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Delbert went straight to work after high school, spending most of his time as a coal miner with Martinka Coal Mines. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed repairing vehicles, going on cruises, hunting and camping. One activity he really looked forward to was his frequent fishing trips with his family. Delbert also enjoyed spending time with his precious dogs.
The family will receive friends at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20, and again from 11 a.m. until the time of service at noon on Monday, Feb. 21, with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Delbert will be laid to rest at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery in Morgantown.
