Wilson Chustz

Wilson J. “Wicky” Chustz Jr., 82, of Kingwood, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, in Vinton, Iowa.
Wilson was born in Erwinville, La., on May 18, 1939, to the late Wilson J. Chustz Sr. and Mary Lois Chustz.

Wilson joined the United States Army after high school and served in the Vietnam War. In 1992, he was honorably discharged from the 19th Special Forces Group after more than 25 years of service. After the military, Wilson worked as a 911 dispatcher for Preston County.

During his free time, he could be found spending time with his family or relaxing on the porch in his rocking chair with a glass of iced tea.

He is survived by his two children, Cathy Cantrell and husband Chris, and Chris Chustz and wife Eden; stepson, Corky Ervin; five grandchildren: Heather Mayne, Justin McCloud, Stevi Chustz, Alyssa Cantrell and Erin Cantrell; step-grandchildren, Samantha Boyce, Mariah Ervin, Emily Ervin and Sadie Ervin; four great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Lois Ann Patrick, Kenneth Chustz and wife Cathy, Eliska Davis and husband Dwayne and Paul Chustz and wife Nancy.

In addition to his parents, Wilson was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his first wife, Joyce; and siblings Catherine, Bonnie and Michael Chustz.

Friends may be received at Browning Funeral Home in Kingwood, from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Sebastian Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, with Father Charles McGinnis as celebrant. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery.
