June Eleanor (Smyth) Straight, 86, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 13, 2022, surrounded by her family.
June, born on June 23, 1935, to parents Minor and Hallie Smyth, brought joy and laughter everywhere she went.
June met and married her best friend, and the two were inseparable from that point on. June and Roger settled in Morgantown, were married for over 65 years and had four children, Deborah, Audrey, Jeanette and Shelly.
June was a loving dedicated mom, granny and gigi. Family and faith came first and was above all else, a value she instilled in all those around her.
The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill and her spirit will forever be in our hearts. June had many pleasures in life, which included sewing, hosting family gatherings and following West Virginia football.
June was predeceased by her parents and one daughter, Michelle “Shelly” Hewitt.
She is survived by her loving husband, Roger; daughters, Deborah Sowers (Rick), Audrey Grainger (Doug) and Jeanette Straight (Ron); grandchildren, Kristen Matheny (Andrew), Lynn Grainger (Kelsey), Isaiah Hewitt and Aaron Hewitt; great-grandchildren Harper, Miles and Sawyer Matheny; sister, Janet Fagula; brother, Ronnie Smyth; and her beloved kitty, Oliver.
This spunky and vibrant woman was considered forever young and a great inspiration to all who knew her.
June was a dedicated lifetime member of Goshen Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in June’s name to Goshen Baptist Church.
A celebration of June’s wonderful life will be held at Goshen Baptist Church, 1070 Goshen Road, Morgantown, at noon on Saturday, Feb. 19, officiated by Pastor Dan Meadows. Friends may join the family to honor June’s life and legacy at the church one hour prior to the service from 11 a.m.-noon.
