Roberta Jo Hoffer

Roberta Jo Hoffer, 73, most recently of Wheeling, passed away on Aug. 21, 2021, at 10:16 a.m. at Stonerise of Morgantown, with family and friends around her.

Bobbie Jo, as she liked to be called, grew up in Wheeling and attended Central Catholic High School and later attended West Virginia Northern Community College. She married Allen Patrick Hoffer Sr., and they had three children together. Bobbie Jo lived in a variety of places before moving back to Wheeling to be closer to family.

She worked at various jobs, including as a domestic specialist, a cake decorator for Witt’s Cakes and Candies and as an office worker for Workforce WV before retiring. With a strong, community-minded spirit, Bobbie Jo spent her time volunteering with the West Virginia PTA and helping with various programs at her local church. A keen lover of life, time with friends and family and flamingos, Bobbie Jo seized any opportunity to travel and adored spending time at Myrtle Beach.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Robert Larue Sr., and her mother Marcella Lewandowski, both of Wheeling. She is survived by her brother, William Robert Larue Jr. and his family; as well as her children, Amber and Aimee Hoffer, of Morgantown; and her son, Allen Patrick Jr., of McMechen. She is survived also by her four grandchildren, Caleb Logan Hoffer, of Pittsburgh, Graydon Joseph Hoffer and Kathryn Elizabeth Rose Hoffer, of Wheeling, and Harley Quinn Tanzy Elizabeth Hoffer, of McMechen. She will be missed by her friends and family and the many children she loved as “Grammy,” including Amelia and Maliyah.

A celebration of life is planned for April 2, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Bobbie Jo’s name to the wildlife sanctuary Flamingo Gardens at flamingogardens.org.
