MORGANTOWN — After co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Gerad Parker left WVU to become the tight ends coach at Notre Dame last week, head coach Neal Brown was in search of someone to fill the void.
That search may be over, as the Mountaineers are set to hire Coastal Carolina’s Tony Washington as their new wide receivers coach, first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
The hire has not yet been made official by WVU.
Washington spent the last two seasons with the Chanticleers, with previous stints as an assistant at Louisville in 2019 and East Carolina in 2018. Prior to coaching, he had a brief stint in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots.
Washington played at Appalachian State and made his only significant impact in 2013, where he caught 64 passes for 939 yards and four touchdowns.
