Love is in the air in Mountaineer Country

Need plans for Valentine’s Day? Mountaineer Country has everything you need to show those in your life how much you love them! From flowers and chocolates to delicious dinners and date ideas, we’ve got you covered.

Save the date for these upcoming holiday events:

  • Valentine’s Day Parent’s Night Off at Mylan Park Aquatic Center, 5-8 p.m. Friday.

Parents, go enjoy your romantic evening while your kids are having a blast at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park. The Aquatic Center is offering a fun-filled evening, including a movie, valentine craft, sweetheart bingo and swimming. Kids ages 4 and up are welcome. The program is limited, and pre-registration is required. Today is the last day to register.

  • West Virginia Chocolate, Wine & Shine Festival at Mylan Park, noon-3:45 p.m. and 5:15-9 p.m. Saturday.

Enjoy a sweet taste of the mountains this Valentine’s Day weekend. The WV Chocolate, Wine & Shine Festival showcases chocolatiers, confectionaries, specialty foods, West Virginia wineries, and legal moonshine distilleries and many artisan vendors at the Hazel & J.W. Ruby Community Center in Morgantown. The festival brings you the best in decadent chocolates, distilled spirits prepared by the hands of the finest crafters in the state and some of the most delectable wines that will ever cross your lips.

  • Appalachian Mercantile Valentine’s Dinner, 4-8 p.m. Saturday.

Appalachian Mercantile General Store and Cafe, in Granville, has a delicious dinner for two this Valentine’s Day. For $75, enjoy a baked cheese skillet to share, market garden salads, your main course choice of braised beef short rib, wood-grilled salmon or herb-grilled tofu, and brownies for dessert. Call 304-241-4578 to make your dine-in or carryout reservations.

  • Valentine’s Day Brunch at Terra Cafe, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.

Terra Cafe will have its brunch menu available along with a benedict and crepe special. Terra Cafe is open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins only.

  • Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship at Mylan Park, Feb. 23–26.

Tickets for the Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park are now on sale through the Mountaineer Ticket Office. West Virginia is set to host the four-day championship for the second time in program history. Tickets are on sale for Thursday-Saturday sessions, and Wednesday sessions will be free admittance. For adults, ticket prices are $6 for preliminary sessions and $10 for finals sessions, while youth tickets are priced at $4 for prelims and $5 for finals. Youth tickets will only be available in-person as fans enter the Aquatic Center on event days. Additionally, Big 12 students are admitted free with a valid student ID. Face masks are strongly encouraged at WVU Athletics venues during public events.
