MORGANTOWN — WVU head coach Bob Huggins confirmed reports Monday that sophomore Seny N’Diaye has left the team and has entered the transfer portal.
N’Diaye, a 6-foot-10 forward from Senegal, was a late addition to WVU’s 2020 recruiting class, who played his final season of high school at Huntington Prep, where he averaged five points and six rebounds per game as a senior.
N’Diaye was considered a project of sorts coming out of high school, one with the ability to add some shot-blocking ability to the Mountaineers’ frontline.
He saw limited action as a freshman, playing in 14 games, but never more than eight minutes in any of them. He played in six games this season, but did not score in any of them.
N’Diaye’s name was officially removed from WVU’s roster on Monday.
“Our guys come here, they’re going to go to school and they’re going to come in and practice,” Huggins said. “If they want to play, they better get in and work on their skill level. If they don’t come in and work on their skill level, obviously they can’t help us. If they don’t go to school, they’re going to be doing more tire-flipping than they are studying. It goes back to the same old thing: Do the right thing. My training rules are pretty simple: Do right and do what you’re supposed to do.”
N’Diaye is the second forward to leave WVU this season, joining Taj Thweatt, who entered the transfer portal on Jan. 3. Thweatt is now enrolled at Coastal Carolina.
