Lula Miller

Lula Berlene Miller, 88, of Bruceton Mills, died surrounded by her loving and dedicated children and their spouses on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood.

The daughter of the late Frederick William Bishop and Vernace Burl Gibson, she was born on March 1, 1933, in the community of Hudson.

Berlene was a lifelong resident of Bruceton Mills and worked for more than 35 years at the Bruceton Post Office. She was a faithful member of Sugar Valley United Methodist Church, where she was the bookkeeper and took care of the attendance board. She enjoyed making fudge and peanut brittle for church bazaars and loved the close fellowship of her church family.

Her favorite hobby was cross stitching. She produced lovely pillowcases, scarves and quilts and won a blue ribbon at the Preston County Buckwheat Festival in 2019 for her handiwork. She also enjoyed traveling with her two dear friends, Colleen Moran and Sarah Young.

Berlene is survived by a daughter and her husband, Trudy Renell Humberson and Mitch, of Bruceton Mills; a son and his wife, Gregory Marvin Miller and Renita, of Bruceton Mills; three granddaughters and their husbands: Chasity and Chris Wolfe, Stacy and Brandon Trego and Abby and Chris Harper; two grandsons and their wives, Justin and Amber Miller and Aaron and Rachel Humberson; six great- granddaughters: Kinley and Kaylee Wolfe, Alexis, Ava and Adalyn Miller and Addison Trego; and a great-grandson, Gunner Wolfe. She is also survived by several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Marvin Miller.

Family and friends may call at the Sugar Valley United Methodist Church in Bruceton Mills, from
10 a.m. until the service at noon on Saturday, Feb. 5, with Pastor Timothy P. Edin officiating. Interment will follow at the Sugar Valley Cemetery.

It is requested that masks and social distancing be observed during the visitation.

The family wishes to thank the nurses on the sixth floor of Mon Health Medical Center, Preston Memorial Hospital, Stonerise of Kingwood and Encompass Health.

Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, will be assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
