Zachary Riffle

Private First-Class Zachary “Zach” Wayne Riffle, 18, of Kingwood, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022, following a tactical vehicle rollover near Jacksonville, N.C. He was born in Lawrenceville, Ga., on June 11, 2003, son of Rebecca Jean Woods Riffle and companion Jamey Ray, of Kingwood, and Robert “Bobby” Jason Riffle and companion Jen Plum, of Independence.

Zach played basketball, baseball, track, football and was in the band in junior high. While in high school, he played football and wrestling and left Preston High School early so he could enlist in the Marines. Zach was serving his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a landing support specialist with Combat Logistics Battalion 24, Combat Logistics Regiment 2 and 2nd Marine Logistics Group. Zach was a collector of knives and enjoyed dirt bike races, playing Xbox, fishing and helping family do construction work. Zach was always a hard worker, always smiling, laughing and was the life of the party.

In addition to his parents, Zach is survived by his siblings, Alexander Paul Riffle, Jodie Grace Riffle, Jessica FaithAnn Riffle and Leonard “Leo” Dean Riffle; maternal grandparents, Wayne Percy and Carolyn Ann Stevens Woods, of Stafford, Va.; paternal grandparents, Robert Lee and Dorothy Susan “Dottie” Argabrite Riffle, of Kingwood; aunts and uncles, Doug Woods and Jacinta, their children, E.J. and Dwayne, of Stafford, Va., Wendy Woods and her children, Emily, Liam and Adeline, of Kingwood, Dianna Trickett and Wes and their children, Cole and Jake, of Arthurdale, Robine Riffle, of Kingwood, and her children, Mason and wife Emily and Madison; and several great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.

Family and friends will be received at the Kingwood Christian Fellowship, 18806 Veterans Memorial Highway, Kingwood, WV 26537, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, and from 1 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6, with Pastor Derek Syruws and Pastor Anthony Favro officiating, where full military honors will be accorded by the United State Marine Corps. Private Interment will be at WV National Cemetery.
