Marvin Ray Ware, 86, of Kingwood, passed peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022.
Marvin was born on Sept. 21, 1935, in Junior. He met the love of his life, Sue Carrol Smith Ware, while the pair were attending Fairmont State College. They married on Oct. 29, 1955, and together they built a life with their three children: David,
Elizabeth and Deborah.
Marvin graduated from Belington High School, Belington, in 1953. He then served as a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959. Following, Marvin graduated from Fairmont State College in 1960, where he served as president of Sigma Tau Gamma
Fraternity.
Marvin built a life one could aspire to. He owned and operated Marvin Ware Chevrolet in Kingwood from 1970-1990. After Marvin and Sue moved to Wildwood, Fla. in 1994, he served as the head of security at the Continental Country Club from
1998-2011, as well as served on the Board of Directors.
Up until his passing, Marvin had been a proud, 50-plus year member of the Osiris Shriners, the Masonic Lodge and
Scottish Rite.
While Marvin was an incredibly accomplished gentleman, he was also an incredibly ornery one. When he was younger, Marvin enjoyed pranking his sister’s high school boyfriends with oddball pranks such as letting all the air out of their tires, and that love of orneriness never left him. He also served as the life of the party; whether attending an organization meeting, visiting the Preston County Buckwheat Festival, attending the Kingwood Fireman’s monthly buckwheat breakfast or just out at a restaurant for a bite to eat, Marvin’s friends always lit up when they saw him, and they would come by to say hello and visit. He could tell stories for hours, and he had quite the sense of humor and quick wit to catch you off guard. We will miss that the most.
Marvin is survived by his daughter, Deborah Ware DeWitt and husband Craig, of Bruceton Mills; son, David Ware and wife Cathy, of West Roxbury, Mass.; sister, Gail Sinsel and husband Robert, of Belington; nephew, Barry Alban, of Clarksburg; nephew, Chuck Ware and wife Tracy, of Greenville, S.C.; son-in-law, Mark Jacobs and wife Kelly, of Riverview, Fla.; grandson, Derek DeWitt and wife Kayla, of Falling Waters; granddaughter Angelina DeWitt and fiancé Ryan Wiznerowicz, of Chicago; granddaughter, Chloe Ware, of Tampa, Fla.; grandson, Gregory Ware, of West Roxbury, Mass.; granddaughter, Natalie Ware, of West Roxbury, Mass.; and great-grandson, Bryce Ware, of Lakeland, Fla.
He was preceded in death by Virginia Browning Ware (mother), Ray E. Ware (father), Sue Carrol Ware (wife), Elizabeth Ann Ware Jacobs (daughter), Timothy Jared Ware (grandson), Betty Alban (sister), Paul Alban (brother-in-law), Bradford Ware (brother), Odbert Ware (brother) and Opal Ware (sister-in-law).
