Layne Ross

Infant Layne Allen Ross, born Tuesday Jan. 25, 2022, in the United Hospital Center at Clarksburg, departed this life on Wednesday Jan. 26, 2022, in the J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Surviving are parents, Aaron Allen Ross and Bryanna Taylor Fortney, both of Rivesville; paternal grandparents, Quentin and Jennifer Ross, of Rivesville; maternal grandparents; Donald Fortney Jr. and companion Gwen Valentine, of Belington, and Christina White and husband David, of Belington; great-maternal grandparents; Jim and Janet Harris, of Belington, Josephine Barton, of Elkins, Gay White, of Belington, and Richard and Anissa Fortney, of Belington; and great-paternal grandparents, Willard and Dana Ross, of Marion County. Additional survivors include aunts, Aubrielle Fortney and Natasha Harris; uncles, Patrick Fortney, Ryan Ross, Quinn Fortney and Zander Ross; great-aunts, Kami Loper, Melinda Parker and husband Roy and Heather Ross; and great-uncles, Jimmy Harris and wife Heather, Nathan Ross and Brian Fortney and wife Nicole. Several cousins also survive.

Layne was preceded in death by great-grandmother, Janice L “Granny” Sturdivant; great-grandmother, Rebecca Sue Sturdivant; great-grandmother, Karen Dalton; great-grandfather, Delmas Dalton, great-grandfather; Robert Sturdivant; aunt Savanna Paige Fortney, great-aunt Rebecca Miller; great-uncle, Eric Brady Sturdivant; and a cousin, Remington James Bedford.

A private family visitation will be at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg St. in Belington, from 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 29, until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, when private services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Henry officiating. Interment will then follow in the Knights of the Pythias Cemetery near Junior. Due to COVID restrictions, masks are recommended while paying respects in the funeral home.
