Joseph Edward Strakal Jr., 92, of Maidsville, died Sunday, January 23, 2022 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born May 17, 1929, in Pursglove, a son of the late Joseph Francis and Julia (Sura) Strakal.
He served in the U.S. Navy for five years and then served 26 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a master sergeant, E-8.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Selma Strakal; children, Carolyn Province and companion Dolly, John Strakal, Rita Taylor and her husband Barry and Bryan Strakal; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Jeffries and her husband William.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home and a private family service will take place at a later time.
