James Foor

Dr. James R. Foor, 72, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, at West Virginia University Medical Center, Morgantown. He was born on Jan. 23, 1949, in Everett, Pa., a son of the late Elmer “Jim” W. Foor Jr. and Helen V. (Hershberger) Foor.

He is survived by brothers, Dr. Jeffrey L. Foor, married to Linda, and Everett and Dr. Jody S. Foor, of Fredericksburg, Va.; two nephews, Ian Foor, married to Amy, and their children Alina, Maddie and Nick, and Andrew Hartle, married to Laura; and a niece, Natalie Kaar, married to Matt, and their children Izzy and Gwyneth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jill Ann (Foor) Hartle.

Dr. Foor was a dedicated Christian, who belonged to the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Morgantown and was active with the Gideons International.

He was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1966, and a graduate of Juniata College 1970 majoring in Biology. He graduated from West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1974 with a DDS degree. He spent his career as an educator at West Virginia University School of Dentistry for 37 years until his retirement in 2011.

Jim was an avid car enthusiast, collecting over two dozen General Motors vehicles, mostly from the ‘60s and ‘70s. He was particularly fond of Buicks, due to the fact that the first car he owned was a 1965 Buick Riviera.

A funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home, at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, with the Rev. Robert R. Robertson officiating. Friends and family will be received from 1 p.m. Thursday until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Burial will be held privately at the Everett Cemetery.
