Francis Lee Teter Jr., 69, of Redford Township, Mich., formerly of West Street of Westover, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021, after a lengthy battle with cancer along with COVID at the end. He was born on Feb. 1, 1952, son of the late Francis Lee Teter Sr., and Eva Elizabeth (Mathews) Teter.
Francis was a Morgantown High School graduate with the class of 1970, where he was a former football and basketball player. He attended West Virginia University. He attended Westover United Methodist Church and was a member of Joseph W. Summer #173 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Morgantown and Morgantown Order of DeMolay.
He spent his career in the automotive industry as a successful auto parts manager for Montgomery Wards and Sears Automotive, where he retired from in Redford, Mich. He was most recently employed upon his passing as a salesman for over 35 years with Texas Refinery Corp.
Francis’s true passion was his beagles that he ran under the kennel name Teter Creek. Francis raised several AKC Field Champions, which was a true honor. He was a competitive and scientific beagler. He loved judging, training and breeding his dogs.
Francis is survived by one son, Timothy Joseph and his wife, Rebecca, of Mendon, Mass.; three grandchildren, Wyatt Lee, Boone Hartley and Oakley Ann; two brothers, Tom Teter and wife Pattie, of Cheat Lake, and Dwight Teter of Mich.
In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by a niece, Lacy Teter.
Cremation services were provided by Manns Family Funeral Home in Livonia, Mich.
There will be a memorial graveside service to be announced with inurnment at Bethel Cemetery, Maidsville.
A small memorial service will also be held at a later date at Red Cedar Beagle Club in Perry, Mich.
