Melvin Lester “Casey” Golden, 84, of Kingwood (Pleasentdale Community), went to be with the Lord with his family by his side on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, and is now reunited with the love of life, his wife, Phyllis Daniels Golden, who passed away Nov. 10, 2018.
The son of Willard “Sam” Golden and Velna Bailey Golden, he was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Czar (Randolph County).
Melvin was a loving husband, father, brother. grandfather, uncle and friend. He worked hard to provide for his family and the art of excavating the land. He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and storytelling with his family and friends.
He is survived by five children and their spouses: Sheila Marlene and Woody Wolfe, of Reedsville, Donna Darlene and John Hemerick, of Kingwood, Steven Lester Golden and Lisa, of Valley Point, Judith Arlene and Darrell Turner, of Kingwood, and Karen Charlene and David Wilt, of Bruceton Mills; 13 grandchildren: Michael Golden, Jeffrey and Walter Wolfe, Melvin Hemerick, Stevie, Nathan, Sarah and Matthew Golden, Bradley Turner, Crystal Bolyard and Patrick, Benjamin and Daniel Wilt; 14 great-grandchildren: Haley and Tyler Sphar, Dorian, Adeline, Orion and Patton Hemerick, Emma, Grace, Abby and Bailey Golden, Isaac and Ethan Turner and Michael and Nevaeh Bolyard; three brothers: Curt “Bud” Golden, Johnny Golden and Marvin and Sue Golden; and five sisters: Ardith Lewis, Anndale Caton, Linda Black, Sylvia Green and Mary Funk.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Marlene Daniels Golden; a grandson, Kevin Lester Hemerick; a great-granddaughter, Kendra Arlene Bolyard; a great-grandchild, Baby Golden; and two brothers, Carroll Golden and David Golden.
Due to the increased prevalence of the COVID virus, a public funeral and burial will be held at the Shady Grove Cemetery in Bruceton Mills, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, with Pastor Sonny McNear officiating.
Carl R. Spear Funeral Home Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, will be providing funeral services.
