Mary Frances Hilling Tichenor, 79, of Morgantown, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Morgantown on July 5, 1942, a daughter of the late Jesse Hilling and Audrey Sandy Hilling, and was raised by Mildred Ayersman.
Mary is survived by six children, Donald James Jr., Harold Jess “Sonny” (Cassandra), Michael Edward “Mike” (Helen), Patricia Ann (Gene), Steven Murl and Sandra Dee Claypole (companion Mark Johnson); 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Donald James Tichenor Sr., on April 25, 2013; her infant son, William Dayton Tichenor; a grandson, Brian Tichenor; son-in-law, Brad Claypole; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Mary was a beautician in Morgantown for more than 35 years. She was a loving wife, mother and proud “Gigi” to her grandkids.
Friends may join the family to honor Mary’s life and legacy at Nicholson Chapel Church, 1326 Summers School Road, Morgantown, beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 9, and continuing until the time of the funeral service at noon on Monday, Jan. 10. Following the funeral service, Mary will be laid to rest with her husband in the church cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the staff at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital’s eighth floor for their care, campassion and love during Mary’s time there.
