Rita Kim Varner, 66, of Albright, passed away Dec. 24, 2021, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 6, 1955, in Terra Alta, a daughter of the late Everett Earl and Wilma Faye (Anderson) Sines.
Rita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing and baking cakes. She was an LPN and worked for Health South, Hopemont, Valley Mental Health and Preston County Schools, which she had retired from. Rita was a 4-H leader for 25 years. Rita loved her family, especially her grandchildren and was fondly known as the “Grandkids Uber Driver.”
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Robert Varner Sr.; a son, Robert Varner Jr. and wife Angie, of Reedsville; a daughter, Kimberly Wilhelm and husband Mark, of Reedsville; six grandchildren, Kaylyn Harris, Sara Varner, John Harris, Alex Burns, Paycen Varner and Shelby Wilhelm; one great-granddaughter, Caroline Breland; and three brothers, Randy Sines and wife Donna, Joel Sines and Kevin Sines and wife Teresa.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Behanna; a brother, Charles “Chuck” Sines; and her father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Wilberta Varner.
Friends may call at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta, from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service time on Wednesday, Dec. 29, with Pastor A.C. Mann officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Amedisys Hospice 5006 Mid Atlantic Drive, Morgantown, WV 26508. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Amedisys Hospice nurses and aides for the care and support for Rita and her family.
