Kathy Sue Summers, 62, of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2021, at her home with her loving husband by her side. She was born July 2, 1959, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Willard “Bill” and Zelma Davis Dalton.
Kathy worked for over 20 years at West Virginia University in admissions and Records. She was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where she loved to sing. In her free time she enjoyed shopping and traveling to Amish Country in Ohio and to the beach.
Kathy was a loving and good friend to many. She was a great caretaker for her family and valued the time she spent with them. She especially cherished the time with her great-nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Nieman Summers; brother, Donald Dalton and wife Juanita; sisters, Brenda Hart and husband Donnie and Jean Dalton and husband Ronnie Gay, all of Morgantown. She is also survived by nephews, Scott Dalton and wife Tammy, Eric Dalton and wife Jodi, Greg Dalton and wife Jacque and Garret Hart; nieces, Cortney Dalton and husband Corey and Madison Henderson; father and mother-in-law, Ray Summers Jr. and Audrey Summers; brother-in-law, Dennis Summers and wife Marlene; sister-in-law, Tracey Henderson and husband Brian; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Peacock” Dalton.
The family will receive friends at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, from noon until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday Dec. 29, with Pastor Stacy Chrise-Tritt officiating. Kathy will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
