Gloria Beckner

Gloria J. Carter Beckner, 72, of Booth, was called home peacefully by our Heavenly Father on Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, at the Mon Health Medical Center.

She was born June 2, 1949, at the Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Morgantown, to Ray Vance Carter and Edith E. Clark Carter. She was a graduate of Morgantown High School. After graduation, she married the love of her life George T. Beckner, of Morgantown. They were married on Aug. 26, 1967, at Booth United Methodist Church, officiated by the late Rev. Raymond Myers.

Gloria worked as a teachers’ aid for Monongalia County Schools for several years. She enjoyed crocheting and bowling, and she taught herself how to play the piano by ear. She also loved being a part of the Monongalia County Senior Citizen Group, where she and her husband had made many special friends.

Gloria faithfully attended the Pugh family reunions every year and looked forward to fellowship with her relatives. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and big sister.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, George Thomas Beckner, of Booth; one daughter, Debra Lynn Beckner Copenhaver, of Hubbard, Ohio; two grandsons, that she loved dearly, Thomas Ray and Emma Copenhaver, of Easton, Md., and Kevin John and Gabriella Copenhaver, of Hubbard, Ohio; and great-grandchildren, Dakota Lee and Serenity Lynn Copenhaver, her pride and joy.

Also surviving are her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nora Kay (Gary) Raymond, and Brenda (Pete) Simpson; nephews, Christopher (Rebekah) Simpson and Jonathan (Stephanie) Simpson; and five great-nieces and two great-nephews that loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear niece, Jennifer Sue Raymond, and her father and mother-in-law, John and Iva Beckner.

Due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, a private family service will be held at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
