A Pennsylvania man was arrested on drug charges Saturday after police were dispatched for a reported brandishing of a weapon.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Morgantown Police Patrolman J.S. Bernosky, officers responded on High Street after a male suspect was alleged to have pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim.
The suspect, later identified as Omharion Elijah Kershaw, 19, of Pittsburgh, was seen leaving the scene in a silver Honda Civic with unknown Maryland registration, the complaint said. The vehicle was located in the area shortly after.
The complaint states that Kershaw exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He was found by officers and taken into custody.
The vehicle was impounded and a search warrant for the firearm obtained and executed.
“While searching the vehicle in totality for the firearm, controlled substances and other drug paraphernalia was located inside the vehicle,” Bernosky said in the complaint. “Including but not limited to cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, LSD, MDMA, and heroin.”
According to Morgantown Communications Director Andrew Stacy, the incident is still under investigation and, because of this, the Morgantown Police Department is not able to release information about the amount of substances found or if the weapon was recovered during the search.
Kershaw was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and is currently being held at North Central Regional Jail on a $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing has been set for Dec. 22 in Monongalia County Magistrate Court.
