The 40th Annual Holiday Toy and Food Distribution will return this year, solely as a drive-thru event.
It will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday at the West Virginia National Guard Morgantown Readiness Center.
The distribution is hosted by the United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties, Christian Help and the Monongalia County Humane Society.
Registration is closed for the toy distribution, but families in need will still be able to come by and pick up food and pet food. Mountaineer Food Bank and United Way will provide food for the event, and the humane society will distribute pet food. Those who have registered for toys with Christian Help may pick up their items. You must bring a photo ID to pick up toys.
Those who are picking up toys, food and pet food must remain in their cars. Volunteers will be on hand to load items into vehicles.
Several boxes of food are also being distributed to homebound, elderly and shut-in residents that morning. The Morgantown Board of Realtors volunteers will provide that service. Registration for that portion of the event is closed.
“The partnerships we’ve created through this distribution, the impact we’ve made, watching people come together in the spirit of the holidays,” said Janette Lewis, community impact director for the United Way of Mon and Preston Counties. “It all inspires me to continue to work year-round for the most vulnerable in our community and create positive change right here at home.”
