Pentress boy gifted with new Rifton Activity Chair

Wheelchairs 4 Kids helped a Pentress boy receive a brand-new Rifton Activity Chair.

Wheelchairs 4 Kids is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of children with physical disabilities by providing wheelchairs, home and vehicle modifications, as well as other assistive equipment at no charge to the family.

The young boy’s family found out about Wheelchairs 4 Kids from an online search and submitted an application. Once the application was received, his programs coordinator, Kimberly, reached out to his physical therapist at Playworks Child Development Center to let her know the organization would buy him a new activity chair.

The chair was greatly needed, since the child had outgrown his old one and he is unable to sit on his own, unsupported.

He suffered from a prenatal stroke that has caused him to have epilepsy. The new activity chair will provide him with the proper support he needs and assistance with daily activities.

Wheelchairs 4 Kids reached out to Cathie Falvey, of Morgantown North Rotary Club, to see if Rotary would be interested in sponsoring the child’s chair. Rotarians from three area clubs, Morgantown, Morgantown North and Westover, responded and donated nearly $3,000 to help the child receive his new activity chair.

On Tuesday, also known as “Giving Tuesday,” members of the three Rotary clubs visited the boy at Playworks to see the result of their gift, as the child will be in his new activity chair at his regularly scheduled therapy session.

Wheelchairs 4 Kids is grateful to the Morgantown-area Rotary clubs, Rifton and Playworks, for all they do to help these young children.
